French  “Religieuse’ clock, signed Mathieu Marguerite Paris between 1675 – 1696.

The case is with Boulle marquetry from the workroom of Charles Boulle in Paris, with a gilt cast brass dial with white enamel cartouches with blue Roman hour numerals . There is a minute track in the gilt brass dial around the cartouches with Arabic five-minute and minute divisions

The case is embellished with his original fire -gilt brass ornaments.

The eight day spring-driven brass movement with original verge escapement, outside countwheel striking on a bell is signed by the the maker on the backplate.

Marguerite Paris, who worked from 1675-1696.
